Competencies are foundational for aligning the knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSAs) of your library staff with the goals and objectives of the organization. When WebJunction set out to provide training and resources for sustaining the public access computing programs in libraries of all sizes, we discovered a need to define the competencies as a baseline. A lot had changed since the Gates Foundation first put computers in libraries in the late '90s. The result of the process that involved technology advisors, focus groups, domain analysis, and subject matter expert reviews is the publication Sustaining Public Access Computing Programs: Management & Technology Competencies. |
