Michael Printz Award 2000+ (YALSA) - "An award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. "
Coretta Scott King Award - The Coretta Scott King Award is presented annually by the Coretta Scott King Task Force of the American Library Association's Ethnic Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table (EMIERT). Recipients are authors and illustrators of African descent whose distinguished books promote an understanding and appreciation of the "American Dream."
Pura Belpré Award 1996+ (ALSC & REFORMA) - "Presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth. Given every other year since 1996. Beginning with the 2009 award, it will be given annually."
Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal 2001+ (ALSC) - "Awarded annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished informational book published in English during the preceding year."
William C. Morris Award 2009+ (YALSA) - The Morris Award honors a book written for young adults by a first-time, previously unpublished author.
Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults 2010+ (YALSA) - "Will honor the best nonfiction book published for young adults (ages 12-18) during a November 1 – October 31 publishing year."
The Laura Ingalls Wilder Award 1954+ (ALSC) - "honors an author or illustrator whose books, published in the United States, have made, over a period of years, a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children. Between 1960 and 1980, the Wilder Award was given every five years. From 1980 to 2001, it was awarded every three years. Beginning in 2001, it has been awarded every two years."
Margaret A. Edwards Award 1988+ (YALSA) - "Honors an author, as well as a specific body of his or her work, that have been popular over a period of time [recognizing] an author's work in helping adolescents become aware of themselves and addressing questions about their role and importance in relationships, society, and in the world."
Mildred L. Batchelder Award (ALSC) - "A citation awarded to an American publisher for a children's book considered to be the most outstanding of those books originally published in a foreign language in a foreign country, and subsequently translated into English and published in the United States."
Theodor Seuss Geisel Award 2006+ (ALSC) - "given annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished American book for beginning readers published in English in the United States during the preceding year."
The Schneider Family Book Award - Honors an author or illustrator for "a book that embodies an artistic expression of the disability experience for child and adolescent audiences."
Odyssey Award for Excellence in Audiobook Production 2008+ (ALSC/YALSA) - "given to the producer of the best audiobook produced for children and/or young adults, available in English in the United States."
Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Children's Video 1991+ (ALSC) - "To honor outstanding video productions for children released during the previous year. The annual award is given to the video's producer."
